The term of "Expatriate Writer" is originally known in American writing tradition when back in 1920's when writers such as F Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway moved to Paris and crafted their literary works far from home. Three Indonesian writers share their stories being expatriate writer living in foreign countries. Far from home, do they have a tendency to write more about their current residing country and its people, or their home country? Common Room was launched in 2017 as an initiative to get together and to talk about cultural and social differences, conflicts, disasters, and solidarity.
